Buffalo, New York's Jackdaw have served up a healthy hybrid of traditional Irish
Music and classic UK/US punk on their latest, self-titled CD and the Whiskey ep. Top notch musicianship,
catchy melodies and an unbridled energy propel Jackdaw a step above most bands of the modern Irish-Punk genre.
From the opening accordion riff of Molly through the last track Bagpipes at Midnight, Jackdaw demonstrate that
they are more than a shrine to The Pogues or a Dropkick Murphy's spin off. At times (Hogjaw), they capture the spirit
of that movement brilliantly. At others (Sorry Again), they're just a great rock band. Taking pages from books written by
bands ranging from the Buzzcocks to The Replacements, Jackdaw's sound spans 3 decades of influences and
gives us something original and captivating. Check these guys out. They've been a staple in my player for a while!
